The previous Chandy Government in Kerala appointed a judicial commission to file its report against the solar scam which created a huge political turmoil in the state by duping several people of crores of rupees by Team Solar. Team Solar is the company run by the accused Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan by offering solar panel solutions to them.
On October 11, based on the commission’s report, a probe was ordered by the CPI-(M) led Left Democratic Government (“LDF”) against the Congress led United Democratic Front after lodging a case against them.
The Kerala Congress president MM Hasan said that the government’s decision is politically motivated as it has been made without scrutinizing the facts adequately and legally. He added that the Congress would launch a campaign against the decision which had ulterior motives behind it in connection with the report of Justice G Sivarajan Commission. He also claimed, the advocate general and the director general has overstepped the commission findings while giving their legal opinion and Chief Minister Pinari Vijayan raised the criminal and vigilance proceedings against the Congress leaders without having a word with the law department or his cabinet colleagues. Hasan accused LDF of its plan to destroy Congress as the opposition party and elevate BJP to the same.
The probe has tarnished the image of Congress leaders and thus is ready to fight the battle in the state politically and legally.
