Class XI Student Accused in the Pradyuman Murder Case to be Tried as an Adult

The board has given a historic verdict and what has happened in the Nirbhaya case will not be repeated again. The session court will follow stringent process and maximum length of imprisonment will be inflicted on the accused.

Juvenile Justice Board on wednesday denied the bail to the juvenile accused of the murder of a 7 year old Pradyuman and further held that the accused will be treated as an adult.

The board said that the accused will be produced before the court on friday. The court further said that the if the accused is convicted by the court he will be kept in correctional home till he attains the age of 21 years and afterwards will be transferred to a jail.

Advocate Sushil Tekriwal, representing the father of Pradyuman Thakur said that the board has given a historic verdict and what has happened in the Nirbhaya case will not be repeated again. The session court will follow stringent process and maximum length of imprisonment will be inflicted on the accused. The advocate further said that the board has given a landmark judgement.

The father of the Pradyuman Thakur has said that the he will do anything for getting justice for his child and has thanked the board for its decision.

The Juvenile Justice Board to reach to the decision has taken cognizance of the psychological report of the accused. The report stated that the accused was well aware of the consequences of the crime.

The accused class XI student has been remanded for 14 days in judicial custody by the juvenile justice board.
