Singer Papon Booked for Kissing Minor Girl on the Reality Show

Complaint against Assamese singer Angarag Papon Mahanta, who is popularly known as Papon has been filed by a Supreme Court lawyer before the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The complaint has been filed against the inappropriate act of showing affection to a minor girl.

In a facebook live video, Papon was allegedly seen kissing a girl who is a contestant on a show of which he is one of the judges. However, it has been stated by the lawyer of Papon and it was just an act of affection and it should not be misconstrued.

The complaint has been filed by Ruan Bhuyan, lawyer and in the complaint, it has been stated that it is shocking to see such behavior towards a minor girl by applying colour on girl’s face and inappropriately kissing her. It has been further stated in the complaint that such behavior of Papon has raised the concerns regarding the safety and security of minor girls who participate in the reality shows across India.

The video is still visible on the facebook page of Singer and Papon’s manager Partha Gogoi said that the act was not meant to hurt anybody’s sentiments and it was not wrong in any manner and that is why there is no reason in pulling it down from facebook.

Lawyer of Papon, Gaurang Narang has said that if a person has put up something on public domain it is not for anybody to pick up same and complaint against it. He further said it is unfortunate that a lawyer has done this. On emphasising the explanation given by the minor’s father he has said that it is requested that don’t malign the relationship between a guru and shishya.

No police complaint has been filed in this matter.
