You are supposed to have sufficient evidence with you before proceeding. If you have video recording or audio recording of the incidence then it will be easy to prove. You can complaint the higher authorities about the incidence. If it is not required its better not to go against a police officer.

You can lodge a FIR against the concerned police officer in any Police station, and if it does not turn out to be fruitful, you can approach District Superintendent of Police. If still you do not get any remedy, you can approach the nearest Magistrate who will order to get the FIR registered and continue with the due procedure; or you can approach the National Human RIghts Commission or the State Human Rights Commission of your State.
